2 Month Ceramics Course Starting August 6th
Thursdays Weekly at 6:00 PM
Starts August 6th
Class Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Course Length: 8-Week Program (8 Classes Total)
About the Course:
This course is perfect for complete beginners as well as for those returning to clay after a break, or for anyone who has tried pottery once or twice before. What makes this program unique is its focus on the development and consolidation of the three most fundamental hand-building techniques, which we will fuse together into your deepest core clay-building skill set. Mastering these three first could be described as building three shortcuts or skeleton keys to the higher levels and back. Learning higher level skills involves running into plateaus and developing this solid base of intuitive certainties about clay will enable you to confidently experiment with higher-level uncertainties and learn higher-level skills—especially if your main goal is wheel throwing. Hand-building techniques seamlessly complement wheel throwing (allowing you to attach handles, elaborate decorative accents, or fix bottoms) while deepening your intuitive experience with clay as it responds to the forces that mold it— stretching it and compressing it, drying it and wetting it, slicing it apart and splicing it back together, after this class, throwing clay into the centrifugal force of the wheel will make intuitive sense.
Course Breakdown (8 Weeks Total)
3 Hand-Building Classes — Master core techniques and build a strong foundation.
4 Wheel-Throwing Classes — Apply your skills to throw shapes on the pottery wheel.
1 Glazing Class — Professional glazing techniques to finish everything created during the course.
After completing the initial 2-month course, you can easily extend your enrollment on a month-to-month basis for as long as you’d like to keep creating!
Small Groups: To ensure you receive personalized attention and guidance, groups are strictly capped at a maximum of 6 people.
Professional Quality: We fire to Cone 6, making every functional piece you create high-quality and durable.
Safe for Everyday Use: All of our glazes are formulated and mixed directly in the studio and are 100% food-safe, microwave-safe, and dishwasher-safe.
